Fat transfer is a procedure that augments your facial contours just like a wrinkle filler. Also known as autologous fat grafting, this procedure uses your own fatty tissue to fill in creases or wrinkles.

Treatments With Fat Grafting
Fat grafting can be used for a wide variety of cosmetic treatments. Contour depressions such as scars, hollow cheeks, laugh lines or facial creases can be corrected. Fat grafting has also been used during lip augmentation.
How the Procedure Works
Fat grafting first requires a minimal liposuction procedure under local anesthesia. The fat can be taken from your abdomen, thighs, buttocks or elsewhere. The fat is then purified and prepared for injection. Dr. Kluska injects the fat into areas that are sunken or lacking tissue volume.
What to Expect After Fat Transfer
When fat is reintegrated and survives in the grafted location, the results are satisfying and often last 6 months or longer. However, the main drawback with fat transfer is the tendency for injected fat to be absorbed by the body in a short time. Plastic surgeons have introduced new techniques that promote survival of the graft, but but reabsorption remains a possibility.
After the procedure, a bandage may be applied the area(s) of the graft. You may experience some swelling, bruising and redness in both the donor areas and grafted areas.
