Board-certified in both plastic and reconstructive and general surgery, Michael Kluska, DO,FAACS, FACOS, completed his internship and general surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic Health System. A fellow and on the Board of Trustees for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), Kluska is also a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgery, the American Osteopathic Association, and more.
However, when you speak with him you realize he is much more than a highly skilled surgeon—he is a true artist, as well.

A diagnosis of breast cancer is terrifying enough—you have your life to worry about, after all—but there are other, more subtle issues that enter the picture as well that can have a profound impact on the quality of your life. Whether it’s a tissue-sparing lumpectomy or a partial or total mastectomy, your breast will change: It will look different and feel different—sometimes radically so. And because our breasts are so much a part of who we are as women, how they look and feel is important to us. Surgery may be necessary, but you have a right to ask, “What about my breast?”
A Team Approach
There’s no question about it: Once a positive diagnosis is made, breast cancer can consume you. The only thing on your mind may very well be just getting through the basic surgical process and moving on to being healthy and cancer-free. But, say experts, don’t overlook the role of the cosmetic surgeon on your breast cancer recovery team.
“The cosmetic surgeon should be consulted right away, prior to any other surgery, and it should be a joint effort between the plastic or cosmetic surgeon and the breast surgeon,” says Michael S. Kluska, DO, a board-certified plastic and cosmetic surgeon in Greensburg, Pa.
