Radiesse dermal filler provides a long lasting correction of facial wrinkles. It is also useful for a variety of treatments in facial contouring and augmentation. At our Greensburg cosmetic surgery practice, we may recommend Radiesse for these conditions:
- Nasolabial folds / Smile lines
- Marionette Lines / Oral commissure
- Flat or sunken cheeks
- Depressed scars
The United States FDA has approved Radiesse for cosmetic use and treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
How Radiesse Provides Long-Term Wrinkle Correction
The volume of your skin tissue decreases as you age. Vital components such as collagen, hyaluronic acid and fat get depleted over time. With an injectable filler like Radiesse, we intend to restore that tissue volume. The unique composition of Radiesse has a special way of stimulating collagen. Made with tiny calcium microspheres in a water-based gel, Radiesse adds structure and stimulates collagen deposition within your skin for a long-term correction.
What to Expect During Your Radiesse Treatment
Before injection of Radiesse, your skin is cleansed and the doctor identifies the proper injection points. A topical anesthetic can be administered to make the injection more comfortable. After the anesthetic has taken effect, Dr. Kluska injects Radiesse with a fine 27 gauge needle. The needle penetrates to the sub-dermal plane as Dr. Kluska uses a special injection technique to perfectly place the product. After injection, the site is massaged briefly. You should see an immediate wrinkle correction of the treated area.
After Your Treatment With Radiesse
On average, patients see results of Radiesse lasting 1 year. Typical duration may be anywhere from 10 to 14 months. Many patients choose to return for another treatment in 12-18 months.
If you experience any swelling after your Radiesse treatment, you may be advised to elevate your head and use ice to keep it under control. Possible side effects also include irritation, edema, itching, discoloration and tenderness. Side effects with Radiesse are uncommon and typically resolve within a few days. Ask Dr. Kluska for more information if they are a special concern for you.
