A thigh lift is designed to address excess skin and tissue of the upper or medial thighs. The goal is to improve the contour and shape of a patient’s inner or outer thighs. Also known as thighplasty, this procedure is commonly performed with other surgeries for post-weight loss body contouring.

Who will benefit from Thigh Lift Surgery?
Those who have lost a significant amount of weight can often benefit from thigh lift surgery. Loose skin can be present and fatty tissue can be very difficult to eradicate in the upper thighs. To minimize risk of delayed healing, potential candidates for thighplasty should cease smoking at least 6 weeks before surgery.
The Thigh Lift Procedure
Thigh lift surgery is typically performed on an outpatient basis. It can be done under local or general anesthesia and operating time requires about 2 hours. The thighs are marked prior to surgery. Dr. Kluska makes an incision on the inner crease of your leg for removal, lifting and redraping of your skin. If the thighs contain persistent fatty tissue, liposuction may be performed before or during the thigh lift to improve leg contour.
What to Expect During Recovery from Thighplasty
The thighs will be wrapped in gauze and tape after surgery and a compression garment will be worn to control swelling and promote skin contraction. The compression garment should be worn for most of the recovery period, or at least 3 weeks. Surgical drains will be placed to remove excess fluid during recovery. Dr. Kluska may advise you to walk the day after surgery and resume light exercise after 2 weeks.
